A YOUNG boy is in a critical condition after he was hit by a car in Irby yesterday afternoon.
The incident which took place on Irby Road at around 2:30pm saw the boy, believed to be 12-years-old, airlifted to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash which involved a sliver Peugeot 206.
Police are now appealing for witnesses as investigations are now underway to determine the cause of the crash.
Wirral West police took to Twitter to advise the junction of Irby Road and Thurstaston road along with the footpath was closed for the rest of the afternoon.
The driver of the Peugeot stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their inquiries.
