The scene this morning at Hughe's newsagents on Mallaby Street
MERSEYSIDE police have confirmed enquiries are underway following the death of an 89 year-old man in Birkenhead.
Emergency services were called at about 11.55am on Tuesday May 24 to the property on Mallaby Street.
The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been identified and his next of kin have been informed.
Although the death is not thought to be suspicious at this time it is being treated as unexplained.
A post-mortem is to be conducted today to establish the cause of death.
