A Wirral man has been jailed for six weeks for a racially aggravated public order offence after he was arrested for breaching his anti-social behaviour order.

Paul Flynn, 46, was subject to an Asbo banning him from Liscard when he was spotted in the town centre by two uniformed community support officers on Friday, April 29.

They called for a police patrol to attend and Flynn, of Apsley Avenue, Liscard, was further arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence after comments were made towards one of the community support officers.

Flynn pleaded guilty and was jailed at south Sefton magistrates court on Monday for six weeks.

Neighbourhood Inspector Stuart McIver said: “Paul Flynn breached his Asbo which banned him from entering an area of Liscard and he was arrested.

"He was further arrested for a racially aggravated public order offence. “Asbos are in place to try to prevent persistent behaviour that causes distress to others with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents.

“This sentence shows that the authorities take Asbos and their enforcement very seriously and we will act upon any information we receive that an Asbo has been breached.”
