Merseyside Police are reminding Tranmere football fans and residents that the area around Prenton Park will be busy on Saturday afternoon.
Tranmere Rovers play Grimsby Town in the last 'regular' game of the season and officers are expecting the area to be particularly busy prior to the match, which kicks off at 5.30pm and after the final whistle.
Match Commander Superintendent Paul Levick said: “We’re expecting a lively atmosphere at Saturday’s match.
"But our intention is that at the end of the day we will be talking about the game and what happened on the pitch as opposed to off the pitch.
“I’d like to remind fans with tickets to arrive at the ground in good time, so they can get to their seats in time for kick off.
“Those planning to pay on the gate are asked to arrive at the stadium in good time for what will be a busy game."
Superintendent Levick added: “We will be working with the club to try to ensure congestion in the area is kept to a minimum but it is going to be busy on the roads around the club, so I’d ask people to avoid the area prior to kick-off, where possible.”
“I hope that fans from both clubs act as ambassadors for their clubs and we enjoy a good game of football.”
