A POP-UP shop in the centre of Birkenhead is giving away free school uniforms for primary and senior pupils.

The Oxton Gateway Project unit is in the Pyramids centre and is open daily from 10am to 3pm.

The shop will be providing recycled uniforms as part of a special project started through St Luke’s Church in Hoylake.

Petra Dye-Davies, project leader, said: “We’re really looking forward to serving and meeting Birkenhead shoppers throughout April and giving away as many uniforms as possible.

“Parents are invited to come along and pick-up school uniforms as well as drop off any old uniform that may be reused.”

Derek Millar, commercial director at the Pyramids, said: “This is a fantastic project and is something which can benefit the whole community.

“We hope Birkenhead shoppers come along and make use of the free service.”

The Oxton Gateway Project has already collected 250kg of school clothes which has not only reduced waste to landfill but has also provided support to local families.
