Emergency vehicles at Melrose Avenue in Hoylake at around 2.20pm today
A 51-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a train on a level crossing between Manor Road and Hoylake.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2pm on Sunday.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “The man’s family have been informed and the incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
