Detectives in Wirral are appealing for witnesses after a pub manager was confronted by two would-be burglars as he called last orders.
The two masked men escaped empty-handed following the incident at the Merebrook pub on Allport Road in Bromborough but the victim was left shaken having been threatened.
Now officers are urging anyone who had been in the pub that evening or was leaving the premises at around midnight and saw anyone acting suspiciously outside to contact them.
Police say the raiders entered the pub through a door at the back and approached the victim while he was upstairs in the kitchen of his flat above the bar, which still had customers inside.
They threatened him and demanded money, however they were disturbed by another member of staff and fled empty-handed.
The first man is white, aged 30 to 40, around 5ft 10ins and well built. He spoke with a local accent and wore a dark jacket and dark cap.
His accomplice was also white, slightly younger, around 6ft tall and thinner. He was wearing a blue jacket and a baseball cap.
Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in or around the Merebrook pub shortly after midnight on Friday, March 18, or the early hours of Saturday, should call Wirral CID on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
