A WIRRAL supermarket has donated more than £1,000 to a charity helping young people.

Morrisons in West Kirby donated the money to Barnstondale Centre, which provides a range of outdoor pursuits and team-building activities, and will use the cash to purchase defibrillators.

The store’s community champion Amanda Lee handed the £1,135 cheque to the charity’s business director Heidi Hughes, who said “Everyone at Barnstondale is absolutely delighted with the support we have received from the Morrisons Foundation.

“We put children’s wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and therefore we are extremely grateful that the foundation has helped us purchase defibrillators for the centre.”

The Foundation was set up in February last year to provide grants to both local and national charities that improve people’s lives.

David Scott, trustee, said "We are delighted to have awarded this grant to the Barnstondale Centre.

“They provide a great service for young people and I’m pleased that this donation will help them to put children’s safety and wellbeing at the heart of their activities.”
