A SHOP assistant was threatened with a bladed weapon during a robbery at a convenience store in Liscard this morning.

Detectives say a man entered a shop in Liscard Road just after 11am, armed with a bladed weapon, and demanded money. He made off with a quantity of cash.

The man wanted by police is white, about 5ft 11in tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a blue hooded tracksuit top with grey jogging bottoms and had his face covered. He was carrying a red drawstring bag.

No-one was injured during the incident however the shop assistant was left shaken and upset.

Forensic and CCTV opportunities are being explored and enquiries are ongoing in the local area.

Detective Inspector Justin Danher said: "This incident happened in broad daylight in what is a very busy shopping area.

"We would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Liscard Road near to the pedestrianised area at the time of the robbery, and may have seen a male running away from the surrounding area to contact us."
