PUPILS across Wirral are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite literary characters next month in aid of Claire House.

The charity will use money raised during World Book Day on Thursday, March 3, to buy sensory story sacks which help bring books to life for children with serious illnesses who have limited hearing and sight.

Avril Parr, Wirral community fundraiser for Claire House, said: "Every penny raised through will provide vital care for children and their families, bringing back a sense of normality to family life, like allowing a parent to read their child a story in bed and not having to worry about their medical needs or creating a Story Sack so a child can enjoy a book in their own way.

"We're encouraging local schools to support these families by making a small donation to Claire House when they dress up as their favourite book characters on World Book Day.

"The team at Claire House will all be dressing up ourselves and can't wait to get involved!"

If you or your school or group would like to support the hospice on the day, call the fundraising team on 0151 343 0883 for resources and tips on how you can get involved.
