POLICE targeted homes in Birkenhead today as part of an investigation into burglaries, thefts of and from motor vehicles and drug supply.

Six people were arrested following the raids this morning, and taken to police stations on Merseyside for questioning.

They targeted 12 addresses during dawn raids.

Detective Inspector Paul Parry said: “The warrants were executed in response to information we received from the community about serious and acquisitive crime across the Merseyside area.

"It also sends a clear message to those individuals intent on committing these crime that there is no hiding place and that we will use all the tools available to us to track them down and bring them to justice.”

Among those arrested was a 41 year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle; a 54-year-old man on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

A 24 year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and a 26 year-old man on suspicion of burglary and theft from a motor vehicle.

In addition a quantity of Class A and Class B drugs, a motor vehicle, cannabis equipment and suspected stolen property was seized.

Detective Inspector Parry continued: "Today’s activity is all about going after those we believe to be committing these offences.

"As part of our ongoing operation we have spoken to a large number of victims of crime and recovered a substantial quantity of stolen goods including electrical items, sat navs and power tools which have been returned to their rightful owners.”

"I want to reassure the public that we will continue to target the people we believe to be responsible and that we will act upon any information we receive.

“I would also like to remind people to ensure their homes and property are secure.”
