North Wales detectives investigating the murder of former Wirral resident 44-year-old Liam Hill have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses.

His family paid a moving tribute today and revealed that Mr Hill's older brother Sean also passed away earlier this week.

Liam's body was discovered at around 2pm, on Friday, January 8, at his flat at West Parade in Rhyl. Days later police launched a murder inquiry.

Liam was originally from the Upton area of Wirral and moved to Wales some ten years ago.

At a press conference today at police HQ in Colwyn Bay Liam's sister Colette Sudlow said: "I am speaking on behalf of our family for my mum, my sister, our children and grandchildren.

"Liam was a very much loved and important part of our family. He loved nothing more than spending time and having fun with us.

"He was kind, caring, generous and fun to be around. He loved sport, music and loved a little dance. He was one in a million."

She continued: "For Liam to be taken away from us at such a young age and in such a cruel way is heart-breaking.

"It is a nightmare that we can’t wake up from, something you read about on the news but think will never happen to you.

"We are angry that someone’s actions have taken Liam’s life and destroyed ours. Our hearts are broken.

"This has been a very difficult time for the whole family and it’s been made worse by the sudden passing of Liam’s older brother Sean on Tuesday night.

"We are devastated, mum is devastated. Someone, somewhere must have seen or know something."

"On behalf of my mum and our family I’m pleading with you to come forward. Any information, anything at all. We need justice for Liam.

"We need to be able to lay him to rest and start to rebuild our lives."

Detective Supt Mark Chesters said: "It’s now exactly four weeks since Liam’s body was discovered and Colette and her families lives were turned upside down.

"We have no doubt that Liam’s injuries were sustained as the result of a deliberate and sustained attack by one or more people.

"We are still trying to establish where he was attacked and by whom."

Anyone who has any information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and quote Operation Panatella.
