The family of Luke Murphy have today issued a tribute saying his death has created a void which can never be refilled.

Twenty-year-old Luke was found by emergency services at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton, on January 22.

In their tribute, his family said:  "Luke was the son, brother, grandson and friend anyone would be proud of having.

"His charismatic, mischievous and loving behaviour made him the boy we all know and love.

"There would never be a dull day with Luke around due to his well thought out pranks and practical jokes.

"Over the 20 years of his life, Luke brought us love, tears and laughter - and this is how we shall remember him.

"From his close friends who were with Luke during once in a lifetime experiences, to his niece who loves and misses him every single day, Luke has created a void in our lives which can never be refilled.

"His family and friends now hope he has found peace with himself and would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support during this difficult time."

Police have described his death as unexplained and a post mortem examination has taken place to establish the cause.

The results have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
