Wirral Globe: PACKING A PUNCHLINE: Ken Dodd is still a huge draw

Doddy is celebrating 60 years at the top of his profession Now he is gearing up for 2016.

The wwwkendoddshows.com website has just released information about his "Happiness" shows running up to September 2016 More dates will follow for the 88-year-old comic legend.

You simply can't stop our favourite jester. But before then he is looking forward to his annual tickle fest - two days of tinsel-coated variety at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall.

I once christened Ken the patron saint of taxi drivers as his shows end after midnight - Doddy's Christmas celebrations are merry mammoths of mirth.

"I love this time of year," he tells the Wirral Globe. "I wish health and happiness to each and every one of your readers.

"It is a special time when people are kind to each other and the spirit of of giving and caring for each other is on everyone's minds."

We returned to Wirral after a month in hot Australia visiting our new baby grandson and heard that it had been raining here since we left!

I did think of cutting Wirral off and towing it down to Oz to spend Christmas in the sun, but then the idea of throwing another prawn on the Bondi Beach barbie in the searing sun didn't seem to quite fit.

I've settled for a traditional, cold, old-fashioned Merseyside Christmas...with all the trimmings.

I just hope I've been good enough during the year to warrant some prezies, have you? Hope you all have been and Santa spoils you rotten!

Merry Chrimbo, plus a happy & healthy New Year to you all.

Stan Boardman

Isn't it great we have an Englishman in space circumnavigating the "other" globe.

Mind you, I have been filling space in the Globe thanks to your support from all of of your great readers who have been to see my shows.

All I want for Christmas is a huge snow globe.

I wish every reader a Stan Seasonal wish as well as any Germans reading the paper.

All the very best for Christmas and the New Year.

You are all...out of this world.

To all Wirral Globe readers, well done in highlighting al the many issues facing Wirral people in your paper over the past year.

It is a caring paper that tells stories about caring people. I am on tour next year in Australia, Ireland and the UK.

But Wirral is home to me. Remember Bethlehem at this time of year.

Happy 2016 to you all. Be happy!

Pete Price

Wirral Globe:

My own message to the Wirral Globe is...thank you to all the support over the years from your readers and the listeners over there to my radio show.

Next year is my 50th year in show biz. I am now in my 30th panto and was thrilled to read the Wirral Globe review.

It means a lot. In 2016 I will be 70.

I am lucky.

I love living in Wirral, and Hilbre Island is one of my favourite places on Earth.

But why is it such a sad planet?

To everyone...be safe and happy. Love to all at the Wirral Globe and every single person who reads it on line and in the paper.

Merry times ahead.
