A TRAIN guard was punched in the face during an incident on a train at Bebington.

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of two men wanted in connection with the incident, that took place at around 9pm on Saturday, November 28.

The guard had left his cab to ask a group of eight men who were behaving in an anti-social manner, to leave the train.

They refused and the guard returned to his cab to call BTP.

At this point the men left the train but as the guard returned to shut the cab door one of the men attempted to drag him off the train.

Another man then joined him and punched the guard in the face.

Frightened for his safety, the guard locked himself in his cab while the two men banged on the door and tried to gain entry.

Investigating officer PC Gary Welch said: "This was an absolutely terrifying experience for the train guard who was simply doing his job.

"It is vital we find those responsible.

"BTP will not tolerate threatening behaviour or aggression of any kind towards passengers or railway staff, and we will do everything possible to track down the offenders and bring them to justice.”

Following extensive enquiries, BTP officers have managed to isolate CCTV images of two men we would like to speak to in connection with this incident. Do you know who they are?

PC Welch added: "I believe these men will have vital information which could greatly assist our investigation.

"I am now calling on the public to please tell us who they are."
