Wirral’s latest premier office development Tower Wharf has been handed over to the Contact Company call centre with the potential to create up to 400 new jobs.

The £11m facility occupies a prominent spot in Birkenhead in Wirral Waters Enterprise Zone and is a large, modern office with more than 1,200 seats and a roof terrace with views across docklands and Liverpool’s waterfront.

Wirral Council helped secure EU funding for the development, Council leader Cllr Phil Davies said: “The council congratulates TCC on the opening of Tower Wharf and the creation of 400 new jobs.

"We have worked with local, national and European partners to help make this happen and it is another sign of growing investor and business confidence in Wirral as the best location to grow as part of the city region and Northern Powerhouse."

Councillor Phil Davies with Asif Hamid

Contact Company chief executive Asif Hamid said: “We are now recognised as the largest independent call centre in the UK and our new building will help us grow even further, and offer more sustainable jobs for local people.”

Contact Company was launched in 2006 by Mr Hamid and has grown to be a leader in the industry.

It has ambitious plans to more than double turnover to £40m in the next five years.

The firm is expecting to create up to 400 jobs in the next 12 months at the new site with details to be announced next year.

Tower Wharf is among the largest new development schemes in Merseyside in recent years.

The new office has been called "Kingsgate" building on the theme of the name "Queensgate" for the company's other Wirral office near the Birkenhead tunnel entrance.
