YET another defeat ... weather 2, football nil.

For the second week running the wet weather has caused the cancellation of all football played on council grounds and even some of the private facilities have been waterlogged which has caused fixture problems with many leagues and the local FAs.

Teams involved in Cheshire FA or Wirral DFA cup games should contact those authorities and find out when the fixtures are going to be played and inform the League Secretary of the decision.

All other teams will be informed of any fixture changes in due course.

Yet another two old boys from the league passed away last week and our thoughts and condolences go to the families of Boz Warrington and Norman McEvoy, who supported the league for many years and both will be sadly missed.

When fixtures are postponed due to the weather by Wirral Council, teams should ensure they contact the local authority and ask for pitches to be maintained or rectified as required, as they hire the facilities from the council and it is their responsibility to maintain the playing surfaces and endeavour to provide the facilities that are paid for by the teams.

But all teams should make every effort to ensure games are played by helping to maintain their allocated pitch, whenever possible and also providing any information to the council regarding the facilities if they feel they need repair or rectification.
