Lodge Bar Reserves made the most of their new pitch and came away with a 5-1 win over Crossway in the first round of the CWFL Goals Soccer Centre Chester Cayzer Shield.

Goals from Joe Waters 2, Mikey Edwards, Sam Carr and Tom Fellows see them through into round two where Ashton FC awaits them.

In the Northern Cup Neston Nomads Reserves travelled to Southport Trinity, where they required extra-time to progress into round three.

Coming from 2-0 down, Neston equalized in the last minute of normal time before grabbing a dramatic winner in the dying minutes of extra time to secure a 4-3 win.

The Neston heroes were Rob Marrs with a brace, Sean Lunt and Ben Pearson.

Three games were played in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Veterans Division with both Dee Rangers Vets and Tattenhall Vets opting to make use of the 3G facilities available across the area.

Dee Rangers used the new 3G pitch in Ellesmere Port where they entertained Frodsham Park Vets.

In a close game that finished 2-2 Jamie Roberts scored a brace for Dee Rangers with David Ryder and Ben Pemberton replying for Frodsham.

Tattenhall Vets made the most out of the 3g pitch at Chrsitleton Sports Centre in what proved to be a shrewd move.

A 7-3 win sees them move into second place in the table, three points behind leaders Blacon Youth.

The Tattenhall scorers were Chris Woodburn (2), Tim Whitehall, Matt O'Sullivan, Ben Erwin, Peter Powell and Andy Cleland.

Ashton replied with goals from Ali Richards (2) and Gary Southerton.

In the day's other game, Plough Vets travelled to Nags Head Bunbury Vets to record a 3-2 win thanks to strikes from Rob Buckley 2 and Adam Fox.
