Shrek...rattle and roll. It works magically on so many levels.

When you have a song about breaking wind that has the audience in hysterics then you know you are in for an entertainment with a gigantic capital E!

This is a fantasy-tastic family show from touring director Nigel Harman.

It's based on the DreamWorks animation films. Our loveable hero Shrek who was given short change in the looks department is rich in warmth and spirit.

Ormskirk born Dean Chisnall is brilliant throughout. Engaging and funny from start in his swamp to fab finish.

His trusty donkey (Idriss Kargbo) is another star of this wonderfully balanced show. He kicks ass, so to speak.

The duo are on a marvelous mission to save the tetchy Princess Fiona courtesy of Bronte Barbe who hits all the right notes every time.

On the way we meet a fire-eating dragon courtesy of some astonishing puppetry.

Characters from all our favourite childhood fairytales make a colorful, collective backdrop.
They highlight the core message of friendship and loyalty.

Scenery is Shrek-tacular and the costumes from Jim Hatley are worth the ticket price alone.

There is a faultless comedic masterclass from Gerard Carey as the short in stature yet feisty Lord Farquaad of Duloc.

The whole cast (and there plenty of them) provide a joyous journey for the audience.

An adventure on stage bringing the characters from a film to life will always make people compare big screen to stage adaptations.

I Iove the films but this is even better theatrical experience where you can let your hair It is an unabashed Shrek trek with new 20 songs in two acts packed with special effects.

And the show has its own anthem - The Monkees hit I'm A Believer. I second that emotion.

This is one show that will bring a smile to any face. And it has a real message that we should never judge a book by its cover .

Shrek is a role model we can all look up to. Pure escapism from DreamWorks again.

Yes, it works like a dream. A Marvelous Monster hit with a big heart.
