A GROUP of kind-hearted Moreton neighbours will switch on their Christmas lights for the 12th time in aid of Claire House tomorrow.

For the last 11 years residents in Amberley Close have worked together to create a winter wonderland to raise cash for the hospice.

The lights will be switched on at 6.30pm on Monday.

Among the special guests is Father Christmas. Visitors will be able to have their photograph taken with him, for a small donation the hospice.

There will also be entertainment from Wirral singers Val Hollywood and Michael Noon.

The idea of lighting up their homes for charity was started by Karen and Frank Williams and next-door neighbours Peter and Sandra George.

They have been switching the lights on for years, but it's only in the last ten years that they have done so for Claire House. Thanks to the public's generosity, they have raised more than £10,000.

Karen Williams told the Globe: "We want to thank everyone who has supported us over the years and hope for a big turn-out on Monday. It's all for a fantastic cause.

"It all started because each morning I'd come out after the lights had been switched on and there'd be little money bags on the step.

“So I thought 'well someone might as well make money out of this, so why not do it for Claire House.

"We don't ask people to put money in, just to come and enjoy the lights display.

"I'm just quite happy to see the kids' faces."

Younger visitors will also be able to leave a message for Father Christmas and in a speclal post box on the night.

Karen continued: "Put the letter in the box. Remember to include your child's name and address on the letter and they'll get a letter from Santa.

"Just keep going and help us beat last year's fundraising total."
