CHRISTMAS is coming to Heswall next week - complete with its very own ice rink.

With carols, music, dancing, Christmas lights and Santa Claus himself, there will be something for all the family to get involved with.

The four-day festivities - organised by Heswall and District Business Association - kick off on Thursday with a Christingle Service in the Church of the Good Shepherd at 4pm.

A number of local businesses have come together to put on the spectacular Christmas Festival to get them into the festive spirit.

Abbas Hussain, owner of Principal Pets, and chair of the HBDA said: “A lot of effort has been put into transforming Heswall this Christmas and we really hope the public support our efforts.”

The ice rink will open at 5pm on Thursday on the bowling green. It will remain open until Sunday and is fully equipped with stabilisers for children.

Abbas added: "This is bound to be a popular event, so don’t miss out – book your tickets now at Principal Pets. Alongside the rink will be a Christmas market where you can find all your seasonal gifts."

At 6pm on Thursday, the Christmas lights will be switched on by Bev Macca from Wirral Radio.

"After listening to public opinion, a lot of time, effort and money has gone into making sure Heswall’s Christmas lights are better than ever this year," said Abbas.

"But the HDBA have made sure the evening is not just about the lights. There’s a performance of carols from the Heswall Operatic Society, along with lively entertainment from the Morris Dancers. And last but not least, Santa Claus will be among the guests."

The rest of the weekend sees carols from Heswall’s own Song Birds at 2pm on Friday, December 4 and then at 6pm there will be a special performance from award winning singer/songwriter Tabitha Jade in the market, as well as a performance from a female Morris and Clog Troupe at the bus station.
