WIRRAL chef and former reality TV star Matt Worswick has created what he calls a festive treat fit for a millionaire after joining forces with the National Lottery.

The head chef at Thornton Hall's Lawns Restaurant was asked to share his culinary expertise, to promote this week's EuroMillions Mega Friday draw.

The result, a £10,000 Christmas pudding, contains one of the most expensive brandys available and is encased in real gold leaves.

Matt, who was a recent contestant on the recent series of BBC Two's Great British Menu, said: "I am delighted to be working with the National Lottery on this project.

"I was preparing the ingredients for my Christmas pudding recipe earlier this year and then I realised it was the Mega Friday draw this week."

"There is no better time to unveil my culinary secrets than now as the nation prepares for the big draw and excitement mounts.

"I really do believe that this pudding is the millionaire’s dream dessert."

Five new millionaires will be created during Friday's draw. In addition, they will receive a £10,000 present budget.

On his pudding, Matt continued: "It has lots of special ingredients inside, which I believe bring you luck – and it is encased in real gold leaves which are fully edible. It's indulgence at its best."

Matt, from Liverpool, made it through to the final of the new series of BBC Two's Great British Menu, competing for a chance to cook one of four dishes at a commemorative dinner celebrating 100 years of The Women's Institute.

He represented the North West in the final heat after scoring some knockout results including two tens from the judges for his fish course, Grandma's Garden.

The challenge was to produce 21st century dishes that pay tribute to the generations of women who have contributed to Britain’s culinary world.

Looking back on his time on the show, Matt said: "It was such a privilege to take part in Great British Menu and to get better acquainted with the work of the Women's Institute.

"They are incredibly inspiring and I wanted to use all my research and ideas to create a special tasting menu in recognition of them and the programme."
