Sadly, we have decided to close the tribute comments for teenager Jake Peay McGurgan as the site was subject to a vile tirade of abuse overnight.

That a handful of people could be so crass as to try to make a sick joke out of the tragic event of a young boy's death has shocked and upset many readers, and everyone at the Wirral Globe.

To those readers who left genuine tributes, we apologise for the deletion of the facility.

We are currently reviewing our on line commenting procedures and will have a more secure system in place in the near future.
