WIRRAL actress and television personality Patricia Routledge CBE will host a carol concert to celebrate the work of Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Carols and Candles for Claire House will be staged at All Saints Church in Thornton Hough on Tuesday December 8.

It features the accomplished Welsh choir, the Vale of Clwyd singers, who will perform beautiful seasonal music by composers including Grieg and Paul Mealor, and traditional favourites such as In Dulce Jubilo.

Originally from Birkenhead, Patricia - whose stage and screen roles include Hyacinth Bucket in hit BBC comedy Keeping Up Appearances -  has been the charity's patron since the early days of the appeal to build a hospice for seriously and terminally ill children in Wirral.

She visits the hospice whenever she returns.

Claire Bedford, relationships manager at Claire House said: "Patricia’s support of Claire House over two decades has never wavered and we are very proud that she is joining us to make this magical evening even more special."

Among those taking part in the event will be the family of Claire Cain, whose fight against cancer was the inspiration behind the creation of Claire House.

The concert has been made possible because of generous sponsorship from The Leverhulme Charitable Trust and Strutt & Parker.

Tickets, £10, are from 0151 343 0883 or fundraising@clairehouse.or.uk
