Elsewhere, goals from Chester Nomads’ Dale Harris and Sam Manton were negated by a double from Maghull’s Brad Smart, but after extra time it was Nomads who won 3-2 on penalties to go through.
In Division Two, third-placed Neston Nomads cranked up their promotion challenge after Karl Dunbar and Rob Foulkes found the net in a 2-1 win at Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves, while the improving Kirkby Town Railway also took three points after beating Ashville 4-2, John Humphreys and Dean Kenny scoring a brace apiece.
Kev McCormick and Ian Smith both scored penalties as Maghull Reserves lost 3-2 to Willaston, Billy New, Paul Kelly and Neil Wallace scoring.
Stuart Cornfoot struck to earn Hale Reserves victory at Vauxhall Motors Reserves.
Ben McHaw struck twice as Newton Reserves recorded a 2-1 win at Ashville Reserves, while Lee Ludgate’s double earned Ellesmere Port Town a 2-2 draw with Heswall Reserves, who hit back via Adam Rasell-Watson and Jack Horrocks.
Second-placed Upton AA Reserves missed out on the chance to take over at the top after they finished 3-3 with Cheshire Lines.
Efforts from Nev Picton, Chris Foster, John McEvoy and Joel Craven inspired Ford Motors to a 4-2 triumph at Redgate Rovers Reserves, while a Mark Ellis double sparked Rainhill Town Reserves to a 3-1 win at Bootle Reserves.
Unbeaten Youth Division leaders Mersey Royal,thrashed Litherland Remyca 6-0 with the prolific Ryan Beigan scoring a hat-trick.
Taylor Jones followed suit as Cammell Laird beat Vauxhall Motors 3-1.
