EMERGENCY services raced to the aid of an elderly walker after she fell on Hilbre Island this afternoon.
The 79-year-old was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for checks following the incident, which took place shortly before 1pm.
An air ambulance was scrambled and five ambulances were waiting at a nearby car park while she was rescued by paramedics.
The extent of her injuries is not known.
A spokeswoman for NorthWest Ambulance told the Globe: "We were called just after 1pm about a woman in her 70s who had fallen on the rocks at Hilbre Island.
"There was an ordinary ambulance and four containing our heart team.
"At this stage we don't know how serious the injuries were."
