FRIENDS and family of a Wirral woman battling terminal cancer hope to raise enough money to help her three young children’s futures

Clare Callow, from Tranmere, was devastated when she discovered a lump in her breast two years ago when her youngest child Ellie was just two-weeks-old.

The 38-year-old was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and an 8cm tumour.

She underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as a double mastectomy.

But two years after her first diagnosis, Clare began to get pains in her back and, following an MRI scan, was hit with the heartbreaking news that the cancer had spread to her bones. There is no cure.

On Saturday, Clare’s family and friends will hold a family fun day in her honour in Vale Park, New Brighton.

They hope to raise as much money as possible to help Clare’s children Ava, aged five, Lucy, aged four, and Ellie, aged two.

Close friend Kelly Sample, who has organised the event, said: “Clare underwent treatment of radiotherapy and chemotherapy followed by a double mastectomy which she opted for as her priority was to spend as little time away from her three amazing girls.

“Claire’s strength and sheer determination got her through this time, she went back to work as a nurse and continued to provide the best life possible for her three girls.”

Kelly added: “Clare has undergone radiotherapy and is currently halfway through her chemotherapy. Her priority is to have as much fun and make as many memories for her girls as she can in between chemo.

“I would like to set up a trust fund for Clare's girls for when they are older to help towards their future.”

The fun day takes place from 12pm until 6pm in the Bandstand at Vale Park on Saturday, September 26.

There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and much more.

Entry costs £2, which will go towards helping Clare’s children.
