REPORTS are coming in that the River Fender at Bidston and River Birket at Moreton have burst their banks and water is flooding across the bypass and near the M53, which now has one lane closed to traffic.

Council contractor BAM Nuttall is currently closing several more roads around the borough due to flooding.
Moreton Cllr Chris Blakeley said he has never seen more severe flooding in the area.
“Millhouse Lane is just a river and so are the streets surrounding it.
“Amazingly, the Met Office severe rain warnings were lifted yesterday and we had no warning to expect these torrential downpours today.
“Councillors and Environment Agency officers are in the area seeing that people are okay.
“Sadly, the council will no longer supply sandbags to prevent homes flooding unless there is a risk to life.
“Their advice is to buy your own – but the question is, where can you buy sandbags from?
“I’ve tried several builder’s yards and nobody stocks them.”
Merseyside Police said China Farm Lane and Pump Lane in Meols are also impassable.
One lane of the M53 has been closed northbound between Junction 3 and Junction 2.
Lane three is closed due to flooding.
According to the Environment Agency, there are currently no flood warnings in place for Wirral.
