A MOTORCYCLIST has died after falling from a bridge over an approach road to the Wallasey tunnel this afternoon.
Emergency services were called at 1.30pm following a report that a man had fallen from a bridge on Mill Lane after being seen 'purposefully dismounting' from his bike.
Paramedics attended and found the 49-year-old with multiple injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
Police said the man has been identified and his next of kin are being advised.
Part of Mill Lane was closed following the incident and the tunnel was closed in both directions, until around 3.30pm.
It caused gridlock from the M53 motorway towards the tunnel and along the Dock Road in Wallasey.
