HEARTLESS thieves ransacked a Wirral clothing store before stealing more than £6,000 worth of dresses, handbags and jewellery in what has been the third break-in since it opened

Burglars forced their way into Nanuki in Higher Bebington in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Owner Dawn Robinson told the Globe she was devastated to discover she had been targeted for the third time since she opened two and a half years ago.

Thieves forced their way into the store through a front window, leaving shattered glass strewn across the floor of the Broadway store.

Dawn said: “I’m still trying to pick myself back up from the last break in – it’s expensive.

“They’ve taken dresses, handbags and jewellery – I’d say they’ve taken about £6,000 to £7,000 worth of stock.

“They’ve also taken the till this time as well which has never been taken before – I only had a £100 float in it - and they’ve taken cash from yesterday’s takings.”

Dawn is now at breaking point.

She said: “You just think to yourself, ‘What have I done?’ People think it’s ok and the insurance will cover it but this is the third time I’ve been broken in to, the insurance might not cover me next time.

“And if I can’t get insured, then I can’t trade and my whole livelihood will be gone. I’ll have to go from doing something I love to something else.

“I can’t afford to set up again, I put everything into this business and doing the shop up.”

Dozens of messages of support have flooded in for Dawn and her business on social media.

"The support has been absolutely fantastic, I've had so many nice messages from people on Facebook. Everyone is always so supportive when things like this happen."

Some have questioned why Dawn doesn’t install shutters on her shop to provide added security.

She said: “Shutters are expensive and cost around £4,000. Plus, my window is how I do business. I change the window display every day and people are always commenting on Facebook and asking about something they’ve seen when they’ve gone passed when we’re closed.

“There are shutters you can get that go behind the display but again, they’re expensive.”

Police officers are currently retrieving CCTV from the area.
