WITH just days to go until the new season starts, Tranmere Rovers boss Gary Brabin has added to his squad by signing winger Adam Mekki on a six-month deal.
The Chester-born player has been on trial at Prenton Park during pre-season, featuring in a number of the friendly matches and getting on the scoresheet for Rovers against Shrewsbury Town last Saturday.
The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Reading and Aldershot Town and signing a professional contract with The Shots in the summer of 2009.
After leaving Aldershot in 2014, Mekki had spells with Barnet and Dover Athletic last season.
Rovers' National League season kicks off this Saturday, August 8, with a home game against Woking.
On his new signing, Rovers' manager Gary Brabin said: "Adam is still a young lad who has a lot of potential.
"We've given him an opportunity during pre-season and he's done really well so we want to help him fulfil his potential.
"He's worked really hard and he gives us a different dimension so we’re pleased to have him on board."
