KEEPING the children entertained during school holidays can a real challenge, especially when the weather is a bit grim.
But fear not – we’re almost half way through!
If you've run out of things to do, here's a few fun family tips for places to go.
See if you can tick them off the list before the month is out..
1. Tam O’Shanter Farm
Situated on Bidston Hill, Tam O'Shanter’s historic cottage and urban farm is run by a charitable trust and provides a fun and educational experience for kids and adults alike.
Admission is free. More details here
2. Explore South East Asia
Chester Zoo's impressive new Islands exhibition opened its doors to the public last month.

3. Royden Country Park and Miniature Railway

4. Walk to Hilbre Island
How long is it since you walked out to Hilbre Island? This little gem is an ideal place to spot some wildlife and birds, along with grey seals, and even the occasional dolphin. But check the tide times before you go – the islands are cut off from the mainland by the tide for up to five hours out of every 12.

We all know this was the inspiration for New York’s Central Park and it's definitely something to boast about! Worth a visit if you haven’t been in a while – not only is there a visitor centre with cafe, there is also a children’s playground and playboulder, two lakes for angling, football pitches and bowling greens, a fitness trail and beautiful woodland walks.
