SHOPPERS are being encouraged to pull together this weekend to help make a terminally ill Wirral mum’s wedding dream come true.

Pauline Gibbons has been diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer.

The 65-year-old has just one wish – to see her 23-year-old daughter Mandi marry partner Neil Fisher.

An online fundraising page has seen dozens of offers come flooding in from well-wishers, including the loan of a wedding dress, flowers and cake.

The wedding has been booked to take place at St Oswald’s Church in Bidston in October, with Mandi needing around £600 to make the dream a reality.

Mandi, from Leasowe, said: “Mum said her biggest fear is to not see her children get married and I said I wish I could make it happen - it's my fear my mum not being there too.

“This would really make her dream come true this would be an amazing day for all the family to make memories and take lots of pictures with her.”

Mandi has been overwhelmed by the level of support she and Pauline have received.

Just £600 stands between them and their dream.

She added:  “I don't want to come across cheeky asking for this, I'm just asking if anyone can help us even in a small way.

“This is my only chance to make this happen and this means the absolute world to her and me.”

Staff at Tesco in Bidston Moss are hoping they can do their bit to help make Pauline’s come true, with a car boot sale in her honour taking place this Sunday.

Community champion Debbie Layfield said: “Pauline is in here every day, it’s like her corner shop. When we heard about her diagnosis and her wish, we got in touch to see if we could help.”

The car boot sale takes place in Tesco’s car park on Sunday, August 9 from 7am until 12pm.

All tables cost £5.

Anyone who would like a table should contact Debbie on 07514408814.
