A WIRRAL personal trainer and his client have set off on a cycle ride from London to Paris to raise funds for sick children.

Lee Brogan and Chris Turner are taking part in the gruelling 300-mile journey in aid of Claire House Children's Hospice.

The pair have already raised more than £2,000 between them in sponsorship.

Lee, 28, from New Brighton, said: "It's a fantastic course and I'm really looking forward to seeing the finale of the Tour de France in the heart of Paris.

"I'm doing this to support Chris. I'm really proud of as she's come so far in her training and she's a keen fundraiser for Claire House.

"Chris hadn't exercised for 20 years and will now be cycling 300 miles. It just goes to show that it's never too late to get fit and healthy."

The pair set off on the four-day challenge yesterday and aim to cycle 75 miles a day.

Chris, 35, from Parkgate, said: "This is the biggest challenge I've ever taken on.

"To me, Claire House is simply a lovely place for children to go to who are suffering from life limiting illnesses. "The staff are all amazing people who want to provide the best possible care."

Lee, co-owner of Renu Wellness & Hot Yoga studio and Wirral PT Studios, both in Birkenhead, raised over £9,000 for Zoe's Place and Cash for Kids last November when he cycled 400 miles from Vietnam to Cambodia.
