COLOURS will run this weekend when Globe digital media editor Sophie Corless slips on her running shoes to raise money for a Wirral animal charity.
Sophie, 36, who has worked at the Globe for two-and-a-half years, is taking part in 'The Color Run' on behalf of Cats Protection South Wirral Branch.
The run, dubbed the 'happiest 5k on the planet', takes place at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on Sunday and will see hundreds of runners covered in glitter and colourful powder at each kilometre milestone they reach.
Sophie, who also works as volunteer publicity officer for the south wirral charity, said: "I'm not a natural runner but I thought I'd take up the challenge to raise some much-needed funds for our branch.
"We are a very small team of volunteers doing all we can to look after many sick, abandoned and unwanted cats across Wirral so every penny counts.
"It will certainly be a challenge for me but I'm really looking forward to giving it a go and hopefully raising lots of money along the way.
"If anyone would like to support me I, and the branch, would be so grateful. Every penny means so much and can make the world of difference to cats in our care."
