A MOTHER and son from Bromborough will abseil down Liverpool Cathedral next month to raise funds for the Children's Society.

Tracey and Graham Fisher will take the plunge on August 1 and really looking forward to the challenge.

Tracey said: "As mum and son, we have each other and are very close but are very aware that others are not so lucky and so we are both very happy to undertake this crazy activity to raise money to help those children who need help.

"I am scared of heights and Graham is about to leave home to join the Merchant Navy so what better way to do something crazy than to abseil together down the Liverpool Cathedral Tower!"

Participants abseil 150ft down the face of this historic building , taking in the fantastic sights along the way.

Hannah Noble, regional fundraiser for Liverpool at The Children's Society said: "Taking part in this event is a great way to challenge yourself whilst enjoying an amazing ‘birds eye view’ of this fantastic city.

"There is a £50 reg fee and £200 sponsorship and all funds raised will enable us to help some of the most vulnerable children in our society - please help us to continue this vital work and sign up today!"

Last year, The Children’s Society worked with more than 23,000 vulnerable and disadvantaged young people across the country.

Through local services and campaigning working with children in care, those at risk of exploitation and children in poverty, they fight to ensure every young person has the best possible start in life.
