A WALLASEY man has been put behind bars after police raided his home and found a variety of illegal drugs.

Liverpool Crown Court heard although there was only just over four grams of cocaine there were more than eight kilos of mixing agent benzocaine - which could have been used to greatly increase its street value.

At Joshua Meek's flat in Seaview Road, Liscard, police also found cannabis with a street value of £4,000, £1,300 worth of M-Cat and £1,740 cash, said Charles Lander, prosecuting.

Meek, 22, was jailed for two years eight months for the drugs offences with an extra month consecutively for absconding while on bail.

Charles Lander, prosecuting, said police raided the premises on March 14 last year and found drugs in plastic bags, scales with traces of cocaine and benzocaine, two mobile phones and cash.

When the case came to court for trial Meek absconded, but the day after he was arrested he pleaded guilty.

Jailing Meek, Judge Alan Conrad QC said that it was apparent there were many good things about him but he had become "seriously concerned with criminality."

Meek pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply cocaine, possessing cannabis with intent to supply and possessing M-Cat.

Neil Howard, defending, said that Meek had got into "dire financial circumstances" which led to him getting involved.
