A Merseyside Police officer will appear in court to face an allegation that he engaged in a sexual act with a prostitute while on duty.
Temporary Sergeant David Andrew Gibson, 43, is currently suspended from duty and has been charged with misconduct in public office.
The allegation has been subject of an investigation conducted by Merseyside Police’s Anti-Corruption Unit and managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The decision to charge was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Gibson will appear before Liverpool City Magistrates’ Court on June 18.
