TRANMERE Rovers' boss Micky Adams says his squad must stand up and be counted in the remaining games of the season.

Rovers moved out of the League Two drop zone on Saturday as they ended a five-game losing streak at Cambridge, despite being reduced to ten men. They are 22nd on the League Two table with 37 points.

During a press conference at Prenton Park ahead of this weekend's home game against AFC Wimbledon, Adams said he was under no illusion about the scale of the task and says he'll do all he can for the remaining weeks of the campaign.

He said: "We're all in it together. We care, I can categorically tell you that the players care about the situation they're in.

"And I care.

"This is hurting my personal pride that things have not gone as well as I thought they would do but I'm even more determined to ensure that this football club survives in League Two this season.

"The players have got to stand up and be counted, they have to understand the predicament that we're in and they've got to cope with it as best as they can. Mentally we have to be spot on."

Saturday's game between Tranmere and AFC Wimbledon will be only the second meeting between the two clubs and the first at Prenton Park.

A win could lift Adams' side up one place.

AFC Wimbledon come to Prenton Park in 12th place in the division with an away record of four wins, six draws and nine defeats.

Earlier this season, the first-ever meeting between the two clubs took place last October and saw the two teams play out a 2-2 draw at The Cherry Red Records Stadium.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Adams continued: "In an ideal world, we would want to win all eight of our remaining games.

"That's what we're aiming for, that's what we want to do, but if it doesn't happen we need to move that aside and move on to the next one."

Adams will be without Marcus Holness, Jason Koumas and Cole Stockton through injury for tomorrow's match and there are doubts over the fitness of Rob Taylor, Dan Gardner and Josh Thompson.

Steve Jennings is available again after serving his one-match suspension last weekend against Burton Albion.
