Detectives investigating the murder of Peter Singleton are continuing to appeal for the public’s help on the 12th anniversary of his murder.

A masked gunman shot the 26-year-old father of one, just after 7.30pm on March 27, 2003.

He was stood with his girlfriend and their three-year-old son on Column Road, West Kirby at the time.

He suffered injuries to his head and stomach and was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital where he later died.

Officers have carried out extensive enquiries in relation to Peter’s death and are continuing to appeal for the public’s help to gather more information about a white Vauxhall Astra van which police believe was used in the murder, and to trace two men who were seen leaving the scene.

The movements of the white Astra, which was used by the killers to travel to and from the scene of the shooting in Column Road remains a key line of enquiry.

After the incident the van sped off along Grange Cross Lane and was found burnt-out a short while later in Carr Lane, Moreton.

Two men of "youthful appearance" wearing dark clothes were seen entering Westry Close from the footpath, which leads from Carr Lane, and they ran off towards Millhouse Lane.

Detective Superintendent Dave Brunskill said: "We are continuing to offer a £10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Peter death.

"We remain committed to finding Peter’s killers and want to bring those responsible for his death to justice so we can bring his family some closure.

"It’s possible that with the passing of time, allegiances may have changed, people may have moved on from the area and may now feel they are able to speak about what happened on that night."
