MICKY Adams admits table-toppers Burton Albion will be a 'handful' for Tranmere Rovers when the two sides face eachother at Prenton Park this weekend.

Rovers moved out of the League Two drop zone on Tuesday night as they ended a five-game losing streak at Cambridge, despite being reduced to ten men.

The win, which was just Rovers' third away from home all season, moves them above second-from-bottom Cheltenham on goal difference while Cambridge drop to 18th place.

Saturday's game between Tranmere and Burton Albion will be only the second meeting between the two clubs and the first at Prenton Park.

Assessing this weekend's opponents during a press conference at Prenton Park this afternoon, Adams said: "They have invested wisely in the squad at the beginning of the season and have a settled squad.

"They got off to a fantastic start under Gary Rowett and Jimmy Hasselbaink has carried that through. If you get off to fantastic start it's amazing what that can do to your squad.

"I watched them last night and they were terrific with 10 men and came out deserved winners against a good Southend side.

"Hopefully, they will be a bit more tired on Saturday, but there's no doubt it will be handful of a game against us on Saturday".

Reflecting on Tuesday's defeat of Cambridge, Adams said: "It was a real morale booster; not only the three points, but the way we performed.

"We got the basics right, for change, and there were a lot of encouraging signs. So, hopefully, we’ll take that and the confidence we’ve gleaned from it, to the Burton game.

"We showed a lot of spirit the other night and that’s the most pleasing thing from my point of view, because we can all feel sorry for ourselves and things are not going well for us, but you've got to work at it.

"I've said many times before it would change and it did. We had a long journey back after the game on Tuesday and got back in the early hours, but today on the training ground everybody's fine.

"We've got a few players out with injury problems, but the players who were out there looked like the weight had been lifted off them.

"We've talked in the past about the players having a mental barrier when it comes to losing games.

"They've got over that and hopefully we'll have a great game on Saturday to look forward to now."

Micky Adams will make at least one change to the team which played at Cambridge with Steve Jennings serving a one-match suspension.

But the Manager revealed Michael Ihiekwe, Danny Holmes, Dan Gardner, Rob Taylor, Jason Koumas, Josh Thompson, Cole Stockton will be missing through injury.
