A SERIES of events are planned for next week aimed at people living in social housing and who are looking to move to a smaller or larger property.

The drive is being hosted by Wirral Council’s housing team to raise awareness of the "Home Swap Direct" service.

The scheme allows tenants with a social landlord to add their property to a database alongside other tenants who are looking to swap their accommodation.

Councillor George Davies, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and housing, said: “This could be the perfect solution for residents who want to move to a bigger or smaller home, or to a different area, and takes away the need for them to bid for suitable properties in competition with others.

“If the needs of two residents match each other’s with the Home Swap Direct service, the process of moving to a different social housing property will be quicker and easier.”

Staff will be on hand to explain more about the scheme, help people register their property and even have a look at some properties that already available to swap, at events taking place across Wirral next week.

The Home Swap Direct events will be at:

• Rock Ferry One Stop Shop and Library on Monday, March 9, 10am to 4pm.

• Magenta Housing, Partnership Building, Hamilton Street, Birkenhead on Tuesday, March 10, 10am to 4pm.
