A 52-YEAR-OLD man from Toxteth is due in Liverpool Crown Court today charged with the murder of Wirral mother-of-two Kay Diamond.

Anthony Blye, of Greenhey Gardens, faced South Sefton Magistrates Court on Monday.

The case was sent to the higher court and Blye was scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday.

A post mortem examination revealed 44-year-old Ms Diamond died as a result of a “blunt force trauma to the head.”

Police were called to a flat in Greenheys Gardens at 10.20am on Saturday following the discovery of Ms Diamond’s body.

A 48-year-old man from Toxteth arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.

A spokesperson for the family said: “We are absolutely devastated by our loss and would ask to be left to grieve in peace.”

Detectives are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything in the hours before Ms Diamond was found, or who has any information which could help them with their investigation, to contact them.
