A YOUNG Wirral lad used a Smartphone to save his granny's life after she collapsed and fell into a diabetic coma.

Five-year-old Reece Williams, sobbing and scared his unconscious gran was dead, managed to find her phone, look up his mum’s number and call her for advice.

His gran Debbie Boyea said she owes her life to the actions of her "little hero."

Reece was enjoying his weekly Friday stay at Debbie’s house in Wooler Close in Moreton when the drama unfolded.

Mrs Boyea, who is wheelchair-bound after having both legs amputated, went into the kitchen, but was gone so long Reece went to check if she was all right.

He found her lying unconscious on the kitchen floor.

After frantically trying to wake her, he found his gran’s Smartphone, got his mum’s number from its contacts book and called her, asking what he should do.

Mum Heidi told him to wake his granddad, Ron, who works nights and was fast asleep upstairs - unaware his wife was in deadly danger.

As Reece woke him, Ron ran downstairs and after being unable to bring Debbie round, dialled 999.

Debbie was rushed to Arrowe Park Hospital, where she spent 12 hours receiving treatment.

Her blood/sugar count had dropped to a life-threatening level.

Debbie told the Globe: "I'm so proud of Reece. He is my real little hero.

"If Reece hadn't called his mum, I wouldn't be here now.

"He saw me unconscious and couldn't bring me round. He thought I was dead.

"He's only five, but managed to find Heidi’s name in my mobile's contact book.

"I have occasional blackouts. But they have never been as bad as this before."

Heidi said: "Reece was sobbing when he rang me and said he didn't know what to do.

"So I told him to go upstairs and wake granddad. He said he couldn't, so I shouted down the phone 'shake him! shake him!'

"I was getting really worried. Luckily it worked and his granddad called an ambulance in time.

"We're all very proud of Reece."
