Police have confirmed they have charged a 52-year-old man from Toxteth with the murder of Wirral woman Kay Diamond.
Anthony Blye, of Greenhey Gardens, Toxteth, will appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court today.
A 48-year-old man from Toxteth arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge.
A post mortem examination revealed the 44-year-old died as a result of a "blunt force trauma to the head."
Police were called to a flat in Greenheys Gardens at 10.20am on Saturday following the discovery of Ms Diamond's body.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything in the hours before Ms Diamond was found, or who has any information which could help them with their investigation, to contact them.
