A WIRRAL school celebrated its love of art last week, raising £200 in the process.
Pupils at Wirral Hospitals’ School put their talents to good use on Friday when their work went on display for all to see.
Framed using second-hand reclaimed frames – decorated by students themselves – a variety of artwork was on show as part of the Birkenhead school’s arts fair.
As well as fabulous paintings, the afternoon also boasted a fair trade cake stall.
Art teacher Philip Balfour: “We hoped parents would come and buy the artwork – it was priced at £3, £5 and £7 – and we sold quite a lot and raised around £200.”
Part of the money will go towards Fair Trade, with the rest going towards funding a guest artist for the school’s students.
Lucy Relph and Morgan Quail, both 16, were just two of the students who had their work on display on Friday.
They said: “Art is our favourite lesson – we would spend all day in the art room if we could.”
