A WIRRAL disabled basketball team is growing from strength to strength and hopes more people will join in the fun this year.

Hoylake Wildcats was formed by support worker Jon Spindler three years ago after he noticed there was little to no sporting activities available for Wirral's disabled people during the day.

After spreading the word, the team grew from a handful of people to dozens who now meet each Tuesday afternoon to play.

Head coach John is now hoping to attract more people to join in with their weekly sessions at Bidston Tennis Club with a view to starting competitive matches.

"Anyone who wants to get involved can contact us through our Facebook page or just turn up on a Tuesday afternoon, we'll make sure everyone gets the best out of it."

Hoylake Wildcats recently received sponsorship from Wirral Methodist Housing Association which allowed them to buy a brand new kit.

The team is made up of WMHA residents with physical and learning disabilities, and meets each Tuesday at Bidston Tennis Centre between 2pm and 3pm.
