TRANMERE Rovers face Exeter City in League Two action at St James Park this weekend.

Saturday's game, 3pm kick-off, will be the 34th time the two clubs have met with Tranmere holding a 16 wins to 12 advantage.

It comes a week after Micky Adams' squad drew 1-1 with former manager Ronnie Moore's Hartlepool United at Prenton Park.

Rovers go into tomorrow's game in 21st place on the League table with an away record of two wins, three draws and seven defeats. A win could lift them as high as 16th.

Exeter are currently ninth in the division, with five wins, four draws and four defeats at home. They head into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw at Oxford United.

Assessing this weekend's opponents, Rovers' player coach Chris Shuker said during a press conference at Prenton Park: "Exeter are a good side and they've got a good manager in Paul Tisdale.

"You have to get in their faces and not give them time to pass.

"We've got good quality players and have been bringing in more players to add to the good quality that's already here.

"We'd fancy ourselves against anytime at this level at the moment.

"We go into every game to win. We know what we’ve got to do this time.

"There haven't had too many disappointing performances since we took over, so we can't really knock the lads for that.

"We were down the bottom of the table two months ago and we were going to places still upbeat about getting results.

“When Ronnie Moore was in charge his mindset was 'we take a point, the point adds on and we move on.

"We're looking to take each game as it comes."

Rovers manager Micky Adams bolstered his squad by bringing back striker Iain Hume on a six-month contract, subject to international clearance.

The 31-year-old had opportunities to join clubs in League One but chose to return to Prenton Park following a successful spell in the Indian Super League where he was voted player of the league after helping Kerala Blasters reach the final.

He started his professional career at Prenton Park after being spotted playing for a Canadian touring side at the age of 15.

He spent seven seasons at Tranmere, scoring 37 goals in 177 appearances, before moving to Leicester City for £500,000.

Also back this week is defender Adam Dugdale, returning for a second spell after signing a six-month contract.

He started his career at Crewe before leaving in 2007. He spent three seasons in non-league before returning to Alexandra and has since gone on to make more than 140 appearances for the club.

He spent a month on loan at Prenton Park in 2013-14. The contract includes an option of further year's extension.

Both should be available for tomorrow's trip to Exeter.

On their return, Chris Shuker continued: "You can’t beat having new players coming through the door; it just perks everyone up.

“It’s great to have Iain Hume back. He was here for a long time and has been away and done his stuff for other clubs.

“Wherever he’s been it’s always been a success, so it’s great to have him back in the dressing room.”
