A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a motorbike crash on the Woodchurch estate that saw another teenager taken to hospital with a broken leg.

Police were called to Myrtle Way, off New Hey Road, at around 7.45pm on Tuesday after a member of the public reported the collision.

A 16-year-old boy from Wallasey suffered a suspected broken leg and was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment, where he remains.

A white Honda “scrambler” motorbike that was found in nearby Farm Close was seized.

Police believe the bike may be stolen and a 15-year-old boy from Birkenhead was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking. He remains in custody.

House-to-house enquiries were carried out and CCTV footage reviewed, with investigations ongoing.

Detectives are also investigating a separate incident in the same area, which took place less than two hours later.

Officers were called to the junction of New Hey Road and Myrtle Way at 9pm on Tuesday after reports of a suspected assault.

A 14-year-old from Neston was taken to Alder Hey Hospital after he was found with cuts to his forehead and face.

Police believe the assault took place on the green on Carr Bridge Road.

A kitchen knife was recovered at the scene.

The teenager’s parents have been informed and an investigation is ongoing.

A spokesman for the force said the two incidents are unconnected.
