SNOW could fall across Wirral tonight and through the early hours of Wednesday morning as the icy blast continues, forecasts suggest.

Temperatures plunged below freezing again last night and the frosty conditions are set to continue until Friday, when some milder weather is due to arrive.

Some forecasts suggest snow could arrive in Wirral at 7pm, with the heaviest showers between 8pm and 9pm.

Snowfall is expected to continue until around 6am.   

A Met Office amber alert for severe cold and icy conditions remains in place.
